I have an almost 9 month old son. He had good sleep patterns until he was 8 month old. Not sleep trained. Then everything went south. His schedule is not strict. However he has not more than 2-3 hrs ww with 2 naps mostly 30 mins to 1 hours ( 3/3/3.5). But night time is when things are really bad. He wakes min of 3 times. He sleeps in the same room with us in a crib. However mostly after the second wake he is on bed with us. And then bf for a while and dozes off. I think because of his broken sleep, he is not an early riser. Like even if he wakes up at 6. He comfortably sleeps again if i feed him till 8-8.30! (I am also tired so i do appreciate that) Also because of that he goes a little late to bed. Around 8-8.30 pm.
I am not sure what kind of sleep training would work on him. Because he falls asleep at his bedtime when i sit beside him for a while with his lullaby playlist( he goes for a nap the same way), but when i try to get him back to sleep when he wakes up in the middle of the night, things go for worse he becomes more awake with all the crying and stays awake for few hours then goes back to sleep when i feed or co-sleep. I would like him to learn to connect his sleep cycles and waking upto max 2x times can be tolerated easily for me!
