TURPENTINE NEWS: "Paul Walter Hauser, Boyd Holbrook & Michael Peña with Teyonah Parris, and Veronika Slowikowska Among New Additions To Craig Zobel Thriller ‘Turpentine’" Deadline reports

I'm laughing because what do you mean this cast is absolutely stacked with incredible actors, and we're only finding out about it now when the movie is rumored to be wrapping filming soon???

The newly revealed cast includes Paul Walter Hauser, Boyd Holbrook, Michael Peña, Will Brill, Teyonah Parris, and Veronika Slowikowska!!!

I'm speechless.

I'm so excited for Connor!!! I hope he has some scenes with each of them and can network for future collaborations!!!

Also, this is the second movie in a row with an SNL link, lol (Veronika).

And based on what the producers and Craig Zobel have been saying, this sounds like it's going to be a dark comedy thriller, which somehow makes me even more excited.

From the article:

“Craig has such a sharp command of tone, and TURPENTINE walks that exciting line between darkly funny and deeply unsettling,” T-Street’s Bergman said. “Justin’s script immediately stood out to us for its originality and character work, and this incredible cast elevates it even further. We’re thrilled to be bringing this story to life with such a bold creative team.”

ShivHans Pictures’ Rawat added: “From the moment we read the script, we were gripped by its complex characters and twisting plot. We also knew Craig would be the perfect filmmaker to lift it off the page with all its layers intact. We feel fortunate to have such a remarkable cast and are proud to partner with T-Street on a film that feels both wildly entertaining and thematically resonant.”

So we're getting complex characters, a twisting plot, dark-comedy elements, psychological-thriller elements, and a cast packed with heavy hitters???

How was this not announced sooner???

Nicholas Galitzine on Connor Storrie: "He was brilliantly funny on SNL."

Nicholas Galitzine is asked about Connor Storrie's fancasting him as Troy in HR2.

Also, about him saying "send me the script", please note that he's joking. This man is even busier than Connor, and HR2 is filming in roughly 2 months, so casting is already done.

Edit to add:
Here's a link to the interview where Connor was asked about who he would want to see in season 2:

Connor Storrie would be a perfect casting choice for Zendaya’s upcoming Ronnie Spector biopic.

Ok, please hear me out. He could absolutely play Phil Spector.

Yes, Connor is obviously far more conventionally beautiful than Phil Spector ever was (those famously bird-like features are… hard to ignore), but acting isn’t about resemblance alone. It’s about transformation, and Connor has proven he can completely disappear into a role. He has that kind of range where a physical mismatch doesn’t matter.

Zendaya was personally chosen by Ronnie herself, which already sets the bar high for authenticity. The project has been stuck in development for years (Zendaya's busy schedule and finding a studio), but early last year, I think, Oscar-winning director Barry Jenkins (Moonlight) was announced to direct!
Oh, and it's an A24 movie!!!
It finally feels like it’s moving forward.

And let’s be honest, Phil Spector is not an easy role. He was deeply complicated, eccentric, and unsettling (to put it mildly).
For those who don't know him, he was a genius music producer and an infamous murderer. His wig collection totally overshadowed his murder trial.
That kind of character needs someone who can balance charisma with something darker underneath. Connor could absolutely bring that layered, unpredictable energy.

Not sure if Connor’s team lurks here, but if they do: this role would be epic for him.

What do you think?

My sister is trying to remember the title of a dark romance she read, and it’s driving us insane 😩

Here’s what she remembers:

  • The FMC (sister) was living in a poor, remote area (very isolated/rural vibes).
  • Vaguely remembers a kind of lonely/childhood setting, possibly with something like a swing.
  • Her parent(?)/guardian dies, and then her rich father and brother come to get her
  • They bring her back to the city, where the family is very wealthy and powerful
  • The father and brother might be in politics, and they were hiding her at first because of an upcoming election or public image
  • They put her in an apartment in a wealthy area, kind of keeping her apart
  • Brother spoils her by buying her tons of clothes and a phone.
  • He comes to visit her every day
  • The family keeps her hidden and takes that time to "prep" her to be ready for the world since she's not polished like them
  • There was a reporter/paparazzi following them and questioning who FMC is
  • FMC’s very innocent/sheltered, almost naive compared to their world
  • There’s a taboo relationship with the brother (pretty sure it’s half-brother, possibly related through the mom, but not 100% sure)

It had strong “hidden/illegitimate daughter brought into a rich, controlling family” vibes.

The closest vibe she can compare it to is Quarantine and Lust by Drethi Anis (same kind of dark, intense, taboo atmosphere).

Does this ring a bell for anyone?? 🙏

ETA: It's been solved!!!
It's {Stepbrother’s Secret by Jessa Kane}
Thank you!!!
