Ringworm nightmare
I started fostering 5 3-week old kittens along with their mom on 3/22/26. I had no idea (rescue says they didn’t know either) but one of the kittens had ringworm, we had never fostered before or been around ringworm so we actually named this kitten “crusty” just assumed it was something from being out in the wild.
The rescue in nyc where I live says they were medically examined before flying from Houston on 3/22 but I’m not sure how the doctor missed the ringworm (I noticed it as soon as day 1…I just didn’t what ringworm was)
Anyway, of course as you can imagine once we realized it was too late and everyone had a little patch and we immediately began sulfur dips but no meds bc the kittens were all under a pound.
By 4/17 everyone was looking so much better, especially after me cleaning/disinfecting/treating for weeks. So all the kittens and the mom left to their homes around that time.
I did decide to keep the runt as we got super attached to her through bottle feeding etc. and she loved my 2 dogs and other cat.
After we were medically cleared I let her around my other pets and thought everything was normal until one of my dogs got ringworm around 4/27.
Ever since, my husband has 3 spot, I have 2 spots and the kitten we kept is reinfected. It’s truly been a nightmare. I’ve begun cleaning like a madwoman again but I’m feeling so hopeless as it has been months now with this!!
Any advice or suggestions are welcome. TYIA
