AITH for refusing to babysit my neighbor's kids for free anymore?

For the past year, I've occasionally helped my neighbor by watching their kids when they were in a bind. At first it was once every few weeks, and I didn't mind because they seemed genuinely appreciative.

Lately, though, it's become a regular thing. They'll text me assuming I'm available, sometimes with only a few hours' notice. I've canceled plans more than once because I felt guilty saying no.

Last week they asked again, and I told them I wasn't comfortable being their default babysitter anymore and that they should make other arrangements. They got upset and said they thought neighbors were supposed to help each other.

Now a few people in the neighborhood think I'm being selfish because I used to help without complaining. I feel bad, but I also think my time should be respected.
