I'm a beginner dev and just released my first roguelike – Echo

Hey r/IndieGame!

I'm a beginner game developer and I just released my first real project — a roguelike called Echo.

The concept: you're blind and trapped in a maze. Instead of normal vision, you navigate using echo raycasting — rays bounce off walls revealing their outlines. Everything else is darkness.

You fight enemies, collect items and try to survive — but the core experience is really about feeling your way through the unknown.

It's rough around the edges, but I'm proud of it and actively developing it. Would love any feedback from more experienced devs — what works, what doesn't, what to improve.

I made a roguelike where you're blind and navigate by echo!

Hey r/pygame!

I've been working on a roguelike called Echo — the twist is that your character is blind and trapped in a maze.

Instead of seeing the world normally, you navigate using echo-based raycasting — rays bounce off walls and reveal their outlines. Enemies, items, loot — everything is hidden until your echo finds it.

It's got roguelike progression with items and combat, but the core mechanic is really about spatial awareness and sound-like vision.

Built entirely in pygame — would love feedback from fellow devs!
