I hit a wall with Essay in my only mains. Seeking the most unconventional, brutal, honest advice you have; nothing is too outlandish. Plz help 🙏
I appeared in upsc mains 2024, couldn't clear PT 2025 but am scoring decently well in this year's PT and expect to write mains this year. Since 2024, i have been able to diagnose and work on most of my weaknesses barring one : Essay. Last time, as I was short on time, I had collected ideas from various topper talks to develop my approach, and focussed on attending as many mocks where I was scoring okayish and felt reasonably confident but even after all this , ended up scoring low. I scored just 90. Same with some of my friends too who appeared that year and even in 2025, they had taken even essay coaching and wrote more mocks also. Why is all this hard work not translating into marks for so many of us ? What exactly is upsc looking for in our essays ? Seeking suggestions , no matter how remote or outlandish to help me see some light at the end of this essay tunnel. Please help if you can.
