SCP FOUNDATION PRESENTS: THE HOD GOLEM SERIES

A couple days I ago, I shared some designs for an SCP themed booklet I designed. This was something I wanted to put together for the fun of it. There is another version of this that I had in mind, but that could emerge sooner or later depending on the response to this article. It's a bit dry, but I enjoyed putting it together.

The Hod Golem series, Featuring Dr. Lunok.

The Hod Golem

>Hod Golems are designed for a range of activities including: navigating hostile terrain, capturing high-resolution imagery, analysing local and donated material, manual labour & piloting. Their modular design, and predictable behaviour across a wide range of conditions, ensured rapid and diverse deployment, particularly in the study and containment of SCP and hazardous material to human-life.

These are concepts that appeared in SCP-9974. I'm making a short booklet / manual (tale) re-explaining what these are as an in-universe document. This is the general sparks notes: the central guy is Dr. Lunok, a Foundation made lunar rover that was sent out before the Moon Landing to make sure there wasn't anything. Due to unique minerals on the dark side of the moon, they became sentient and actually flew back home. The Foundation were unable to reproduce Lunok's brain, but research made the lesser Hod Golem.

These guys (the pyramid robots) are non-sapient droids that can be used for a diverse range of things, including navigating hostile terrain, capturing high-resolution imagery, analysing local and donated material, manual labour and probably whatever a writer wants. They were supposed to have been produced in the 60s or maybe 70s, so I'm leaning into old science fiction for their initial look.

I had an urge to expand the technological repertoire of the Foundation. Obviously, what happens to the idea once I release the tale will depend on the community. Otherwise, I hope you like the art.

The image and all assets in it were created in Blender (with a texture for the Hod Golem made in Illustrator.)

Time Gods || T00N- YouTube

"Thousands of years ago, the warlock known as Strawcrop attempted a forbidden spell. Consequently he catches the attention of the Directors of Time. Will arrogance be his undoing?"

Another shorter animation for the Shorts algorithm! This animation actually took a lot longer than I expected it to. The second half was just really fickle to assemble.

It's all very Doctor Who 😆 Shoutout to Animator Cartesian Caramel who's project file helped be with that one disintegration effect: https://www.youtube.com/live/uIa8uxqxbrE?si=l3vUjz2_upjxLEZL
