Flight attendant’s honest guide to the French Riviera this summer skip the famous spots, go here instead

Summer is already starting and if you don’t have the French Riviera on your list yet, let me fix that.(flight attendant approved)

Forget Cannes. Forget Monaco. Here are the places I actually recommend all doable in 2 days and honestly more beautiful than the famous ones.

☀️ VILLEFRANCHE-SUR-MER
Imagine a village so pretty it looks like someone turned a postcard into real life. Pastel pink and yellow buildings stacked on top of each other, a tiny harbour with wooden fishing boats, and water so clear you can see straight to the bottom.
This is the kind of place where you sit down for a coffee and end up staying four hours. The vibe is unhurried, the locals are warm, and the citadel at the top has views that will genuinely make you emotional.
Come here first. Thank me later.

🧑‍🎨 ÈZE
A stone village literally hanging off a cliff 400 metres above the sea. You walk up through medieval alleyways so narrow your shoulders almost touch both walls, past bougainvillea spilling over ancient doorways, until suddenly the whole Mediterranean opens up in front of you.
The exotic cactus garden at the top is surreal. The perfume factory (Fragonard) is worth a stop. And the descent down the Nietzsche Path through the pines is one of those walks you’ll talk about for years.

🍋 MENTON
Menton is what happens when France and Italy can’t decide where one ends and the other begins. The old town is a stack of ochre and terracotta buildings tumbling down to a harbour that glitters in the afternoon light.
Everything here tastes better for some reason the lemons are famous across all of France, the pasta is suspiciously good for a French town, and the gelato situation is very serious.
Also the cemetery (yes, the cemetery) has one of the most breathtaking views on the entire coast. Don’t skip it.

Two days is all you need base yourself in Nice, rent a car or take the train along the coast( I do that ) fast and easy and hit all four in one trip.
Have you ever been to the French Riviera? Any hidden gems I missed? Would love to know where you’d add to this list 🌍
