Pour-over Profile. on GM Pro. My first try.
Hey guys,
Today I decided to use my Gaggia E24 with a GM profile as a pour-over brewer. My initial thought process was:
- Flow control at 1 g/s gives me better control than using a gooseneck kettle.
- Because the flow rate is low and the machine has a PID, I should get a stable water temperature throughout the entire extraction.
- I'm using a Normcore High Extraction 22g basket with a paper filter.
- My grinder is the ZP6, so I can keep the same grind setting and coffee dose every time.
My profile is very simple:
Step 1
- Pre-infusion: 10 seconds at 1 g/s
Step 2
- Bloom: 30 seconds
Step 3
- Continue dripping at 1 g/s until 220g output
Done
To my taste, the cup quality is comparable to a traditional pour-over. I just need to measure it a few more times so I can skip the scale and stop the brew based on water volume withdrawn.
The best part is the convenience: put a cup under the machine, start the profile, walk away, do other things, and come back when everything is ready.
