What if there were gnomes?
Gnomes!
Gnomes are small humaoid creatures that live within flower forests and mushroom islands. They are simple creatures that station themselves within groups of five to six, during the night they will retreat to their small shroom houses where they stay until the day break. The gnomes themselves don’t do much compared to their villager counterparts, however, they have an affinity for gold, and when given a golden nugget, they will either bless you with an effect, or give you an item.
Around their villages you might find clovers scattered about like wild flowers, you also have the chance of finding a four leaf clover which is much more prominent than the rest, putting that clover in a brewing stand allows you to create the potion of luck.
(The potion of luck if you’re not aware increases your probability of finding better loot within structured chests like mineshafts, nether fortresses, end cities, etc.)
However, they do have a nasty version known as the dark gnome. The dark gnome spawns in raids and can afflict the player with crude effects like witches or throw colvered bombs to damage the player, or more specifically, take away armor durability to lower defense. They aren't good with hand to hand combat but will still attempt to put up a fight. When killed they can drop the two leaf clover which can be crafted into a potion of unluck, but to make it less useless on a single player world, the potion when inflicted on a mob can cause two of any bad effects at random for twenty to thirty seconds.
