Do you have to take UGS your freshman year?

I would rather take another course or gen ed to get my 15 hours, and take UGS in a later semester or year of college so I can get a UGS that I’m actually interested in. Would this be unwise to do?

(By “have to,” I mean is it heavily suggested.)

As an incoming pre-dental freshman, what should I know before I start undergrad?

I start my freshman year in undergrad this fall (yay)! I have a parent in dentistry, and have shadowed some dentists. I am pretty positive this is the field I want to go into.

That being said, what advice did you wish you knew before going committing to dentistry as an undergrad? A timeline you wish you followed? Please feel free to share anything you wish you knew about applying, shadowing, or even just classes! Thanks!

I have really bad long-term memory. Is this something to be worried about?

I’m 18 years old, and looking back on my life I honestly feel like I can’t remember much. I moved around a lot when I was younger, and don’t have strong memories, other than some people and faces.

The thing is though, I’m really good at remembering certain things. I get good grades and got into a top uni in my country. I remember dates and times, and never forget an obligation. I am a great reader and I an great at absorbing information I read in articles, books, etc. But I can’t even remember how me and my best friend met.

This is just frustrating to me that I remember dumb school facts for tests and what time I need to be to church on sunday, but I can’t remember the good times I had with friends a few years back. I’ve had friends comment on how bad my memory is for someone who is apparently “so smart.”

Is there any explanation for this? Should I be concerned about this?

I’ve been running for about 2 years, I’ve done 5ks, 10ks, even a half.

However, no matter how much i try, my heart rate on my runs consistently stays in the 160-180bpm range. I’m talking 12min/mi pace. The whole “slow down until you’re in zone 2” sounds great, except my zone two is like, a brisk speedwalk (which by the way , i have started incorporating, as well as stairmaster).

The oddest part of all of this is that my resting heart rate has lowered consistently in the past year, I went from around 60 bpm resting to about 50bpm depending on the day.

Is there something wrong with my training, or is it just me? Will i never be able to lower my hr on my runs at my comfortable pace?

I’m a prefrosh premed who plans on taking 15 credit hours, but I want to add a language course, which is 6 credit hours. It brings my first semester freshman year courses to 21 credit hours…

I do have a background in the language (studied in HS for 3 years plus some family background), and will be starting at the most beginner level course. However the idea of taking 21 credit hours on paper is kinda scary.

Is this a bad idea as a premed?? If anyone has similar experience, please feel free to share!

Edit: sorry guys this was kinda dumb i didn’t know any better 😭 summer courses it is

I have fine but medium density hair. Anyone else so frustrated by having to wash their hair every day, after every workout, after going out, etc?? Watching my thick haired friends be able to go 3-4 days without their hair looking visibly greasy makes me so jealous, especially because I hate the feeling of wet hair, and it takes extra time to get ready 😒
