Junior engineer considering switching to physically demanding/dangerous jobs

Hi everyone,

I'm a junior engineer (graduated last year), currently working in switzerland until next month. On paper it sounds decent, but the reality is my salary as an engineer is roughly equivalent to what a cashier makes here. The junior market feels completely saturated and career progression seems dead.

So I have been thinking differently. Instead of competing in an overcrowded market, why not go for jobs that are so tough, dangerous, physically demanding or nights, weekends that most people simply don't want to do? Less competition, potentially better pay idk, and honestly I don't care about comfort I have alreday done tough job.

Has anyone made a similar switch? What jobs would you actually recommend? What's the realistic pay ceiling?
