Psychology to Marketing

hi guys! i'm currently a 2nd year (almost 3rd year) psych student who wants to transition their career path into marketing during our current summer break. to do this, i plan to apply for internships that could help me pivot. however, i currently don't have any work experience, orgwork or otherwise, in marketing. what are some tips that could help me in my applications? what would i need in my portfolio to include and work on? what are the best online certifications i would need? is emailing companies that don't even have posted internship listings even viable until now?

from what i understand, marketing portfolios usually just include creative work in addition to case studies and personal projects. what would be the specifics of executing this? from my understanding, case studies in marketing involve identifying problems in a pre-existing business' marketing strategies, and then recommending areas of improvement to implement. is that correct?

i'm sorry for all the questions i have, but even my current research until now has left me confused. i was trained and thought of to be a future doctor; however, i've recently become disillusioned with the healthcare system and don't want to work in the field anymore. because of this, no one has ever really guided me in terms of breaking into the corporate world, and i feel that this recent change is especially daunting because of that fact.

if anyone has any suggestions, they will be greatly appreciated; i would appreciate them so much. even stories and experiences would help! from a lost and tired college student, thank you so much. it means a lot more than you know
