Pigeon nest on my balcony - with squab

Hi, first time posting here, looking for some advice.

I have been chosen to have my flower pot as a nest for a pigeon to lay her eggs in (my daughter named her Penny and the husband Henry and the squab tumeric).

So, Penny laid two eggs, and one has hatched and we have a squab that's about 4 days old now. The other egg seems to be there still and Penny still sits on it but Im sure I saw crack in it with brown dried liquid, I don't think it's a viable one but can't get a good view.

My balcony is full sun all day and evening and sea winds. I have been worried sick for them, witnessing them overheating, so I've provided some shade with cardboard and a small canopy. I've provided a tub of water but they never leave to go in for a dip or drink. And we occasionally drop some wild bird feed into the pot or defrosted peas. My daughter likes to feed them.

I have these issues:

*Should we be feeding the pigeons right in their nest? They aren't flying away when we approach them now and talking to them gently they seem to not be so scared.

*Should I make more of a mix of soaked lentils and seeds etc for penny?

*When does the squab begin to see and walk? I'm scared that they'll fall between the bars of the balcony.

*Should I mist Penny or Henry on the really hot days? They don't go near the water.

*I don't want to handle or be too involved with nature but I am worried about the squab when it's starts to be a bit more mobile. We're on the 3rd storey building.

Any advice is helpful.

Thank you!
