Composting with Manure

Hello everyone. I asked a question on another’s post about composting with manure.

I am VERY new to composting. I have started a 3’x3’ bin with pallets. Front side is open with a 2x8 to keep it all in. I live in North Phoenix. Temps today ware close to 100 degrees.

I have chickens, donkeys, and soon will have a few hogs to raise for meat. We have raised steers as well. So I am sure some of their manure is out in the pasture.

I know about curing the manure for 3-6 months.

My questions are how much should I use? Which one is better for vegetables. Specifically tomatoes! I have lots of cardboard too from my Chewy deliveries (chicken food). I don’t have any grass here in the desert and have minimal leaves. But some. I cook for a living, so lots of vegetable scraps, and juicing scraps. Some of their scraps go to the chickens. 😂

I have a thermometer for composting to make sure the manure is “cured”! Don’t want to make anyone sick!
