Can my employer remove benefits?
I already assume the answer to the above is yes. But, as a backstory our MD announced that the company had been reviewing our employee benefits due to feedback she’d received. Brilliant you would assume, our brilliant benefits include; pension contribution, free tea, coffee and fruit, a free car park (we’re in the middle of an industrial estate, loads of parking) and the option to buy holidays.
Anyway, they’re taking away the option to buy up to 5 extra days holiday, this was said because it’s apparently difficult to manage resource across the business. We only get 21 days holiday (excluding bank holidays) so only 1 above the legal minimum and way below average for our industry.
Is there anything we can do to challenge this? As you can imagine nobody is very happy about this.
Edit* it’s not in our contract and there is no union unfortunately. Yes it’s a shitty company.
