BURRIS XTR III 3.3-18 vs NX6 3-18 or ?
I'm by no means a pro but I'd like to get better and do some competitions in the future. Appreciate all the feedback from those who have been there and have more time behind glass.
Budget is $2500 or less -- I want to get the most bang for my buck, not looking for likes on my pictures
Generally shooting at 300- 600yds but would like to be able to take a shot at 1,000 occasionally when I have the chance.
I have an 18" 5.56 with Criterion stainless barrel + Athlon 2-12 that has served me well.
I've been a fan of the features of my Athlon -- Not perfect but decent for the price.
I'm looking to upgrade the glass, magnification, and durability mainly.
I value a forgiving eye-box, lower weight, FOV, crisp turrets
Been considering a few options and keep coming back to the Burris and trying to find a reason not to buy it at the sub $1k price point compared to its competitors
MK5 HD - not a big fan of the reticle
Maven RS1.2 2.5-15 - A contender but lower magnification than I'd like
ATACR 4-16 - Seems a bit overkill for my needs
NX8 2.5-20 - A Contender but I've read a lot of complaints about the eye-box
I was hoping to see the NF nx6 3-18 at a better price point and pull the trigger on it with the Mil-XT reticle. From what I've been able to see on the forums I would likely (it is still new to the market) be getting a slightly better reticle, better glass, legendary NF durability but at nearly 2x the price.
Feels like the NF is a buy once/ cry once scope, but is it worth it for a novice shooter ?
