Do I defrost? (first attempt at any sort of preserving)

About 3 weeks ago I found a baby bird dead on the side walk, my best guess is it fell of the nest (featherless, about the size of a deck of cards).

I took it home and in the freezer it went (padded dry with paper towels, wrap in clean paper towels and put in a tupperware) and it's been there since.

Sometime this week I'd like to try and preserve it. Already got the non-iodized salt, borax, and 97% alcohol. My biggest question is do I defrost the birdie before cleaning it in alcohol? or can it go straight in from the freezer?

and any other recommendations you have for a first timer

thank you
