Job offer issues??
Hello everyone I am a semi new nurse I graduated 9 months ago and worked a GPN position until I took the nclex then began my role on a med surg unit, I work there for four months then put in my two weeks due to them not allowing vacation time for the first 6 months of employment.
I then applied to other jobs received an interview/shadow and was told by the unit manager he was hiring me, I then had an interview with the recruitment office where they had me give references and told me she had to do a background check and determine my rate of pay then she would call me and set things up. During this time the recruiter walked me through the hiring orientation, schedules, and orientation dates she also wrote down my vacation dates.
This happened on a Wednesday and by Monday I had emailed making sure all was okay since I hadn’t heard from her, she then called me and said the unit had finished up interviews on Friday and gave all their spots to other candidates despite my verbal offer (I know verbal offers aren’t really anything) the gave the position to someone else who had “more experience”.
Am I wrong for being upset over this?? She told me I can apply to new listing and interview but they had me shadow for 6 hours then offered the job and then rejected me so I don’t really want to keep wasting my time. Is this a normal thing to have happen or should I reach out again. Thank you in advance.
(I worked part time on a med surg unit for four months before all this, I put in my two weeks due to them not allowing vacation time for 6 months and I had a commitment I could not back out of due to already paying for everything.)
