Would a louvered pergola like this make a small patio feel too built in?
I’m reviewing a real customer install/case for FlexPatio, but the image here is an anonymized planning-style visual, not the original customer photo or my own backyard.
The question I’m stuck on is the tradeoff: shade/rain control vs making the patio feel closed in. The covered area seems useful, but I’d wonder about side rain/wind and whether it still gets enough natural light.
For people who’ve added a louvered pergola or similar patio cover, what would you check before committing? Side shades, drainage, wind, permit/HOA, or something else?
