Post Op - All was fine and now I'm back in Hospital

Surgery was a major success on tuesday and healing was going fine, no stitches and they glued my wounds shut. I was supposed to be in and out on the same day but because of my inability to urinate post op they kept me over night.

Was finally able to pee again come the morning and went home thinking everything was fine. Two days of relaxing at home, eating plenty of fibre and drinking my laxatives and something was wrong, I wasnt making any bowel movements and I kept getting more bloated and feeling heavier and heavier. Yesterday I was sat at home and this pain started deep in my gut, almost like a familiar attack but different, almost like a twisting knotting feeling that rose into my chest. I was on my way to A&E and this happened for about 15-20 minutes before dissapearing completely and I assumed gas pain because as I burped it went away. Left A&E without getting triaged and went home to relax with painkillers and buscopan and a hot water bottle. Woke up 6 hours later and immedietly the pain start again but easily 2x worse, sharp stabbing pain that felt like my entire lower half was going to explode. 12/10 pain. Got into A&E screaming the place down and they got me on morphine whilst they ran bloods and tests.

Bloods came back clear, ECG also clear, CT scan also clear and they didnt know what to do. They assumed it was constipation causing this which felt off. For the next 2-3 hours I continued to scream the whole ward down begging for pain meds but they couldnt give me anymore. Then they did one more check, a bladder scan and my bladder was completely full. They asked me to empty it and I did try but even after I couldnt pee anymore it was still almost full, then they realised this could be the cause - Urinary Retention Pain, as all the symptoms line up. Got a catheter into me and the rest was bliss, pain melted away over the course of minutes and they pulled close to 3-4 litres of fluid out of me over the next 6 hours.

If you have trouble peeing after surgery, Get them to check your bladder is functioning properly.

TLDR: Urine completely over filled my bladder causing otherwordly pain and a trip back to hospital 3 days post-op. Felt like my lower half was going to burst.
