2019 XLT a safe buy?
Looking at a 2019 XLT with 78,000 miles, $18,995. One owner clean title history. The dealer is a very reputable local used car dealer that’s been in business many years and also has a good repair shop. I’ve bought and service cars from him before.
It has the captain chairs that make the third row very accessible and is what we need and this is our price range.
I went to the lot to look at the vehicle but it was parked near the shop bay. I inquired about it and talked to the owner and he stated he’s putting it in the shop to repair what he believes to be the water pump before selling. He drove past it on the lot and saw liquid on the ground and he showed me this as well.
Other than the vehicle is clean and runs great.
So I’m asking if these Explorers are generally reliable after the water pump fix? I did some research and was a little stunned by the price of this particular repair and how common it is.
Thanks in advance for any insights.
