Should women lead worship?
For the last years God has opened the eyes of me and my wife regarding male headship. I’m the head of the household, she has started practicing head covering, and we now believe that women should not be pastors or have other leader positions in church over men. This is a very rare view in Europe where we live.
My wife sings and leads the worship in the small Pentecostal church we belong to.
The last weeks she have felt doubt about if it is right for her to do so, as leading worship is in some way being in authority.
She had an discussion last Sunday with an elder and explained that she wanted a pause in singing and worship to pray about if it’s right for her to do so. He was in total chock and felt sorry for her if she would bury her talents but excepted her pause (the church do believe women can have leader roles like preaching).
The church does not have many that lead the worship so there would be a loss for the church.
What do you say? What does your church practice?
