TV won’t turn on without being unplugged first

This new issue popped up about a week ago now, I’ve finally gotten sick of it.
I first noticed my remote wouldn’t turn the TV on. At first, I thought it was the remote. A new pair of batteries didn’t fix anything, though. I unplugged the TV for 5 minutes and tried again, then everything worked normally. I figured it was a one time hiccup.
Then, the next time I go to turn on the TV: same issue, no response to the remote. So, I unplugged it for 5 minutes again and it works. This time, I went into the settings checked for updates, then did a reset. Didn’t fix anything for the next time, though.
After repeated experiences with this I’ve come to realize that the TV doesn’t need to sit unplugged for long, I literally just unplug and immediately plug it back in. But for whatever reason, after turning the TV off with the remote, it will not turn back on without being unplugged first. What’s the issue and what can I do to fix it?
