Saw this brown-gray bird at the Toronto waterfront yesterday, what is it?
It was bigger than a sparrow but a bit smaller than a grackle, maybe robin size. It looks like a female of some species, perhaps a cowbird or a catbird, but the shape of the feathers, the beak, and the lack of feathers around its eye is throwing me off. It did not have a particularly distinctive call.
