Prescription cat food options

My 18 year old cat was very recently diagnosed with kidney disease after her bloodwork. She also has hyperthyroidism. Back when she first got that we tried the Hills science diet food and my cat absolutely would not eat any of it, to the point she almost starved. I see their kidney food has chicken and the first ingredient and royal canine and purinas version has corn as the first ingredient. Is the Hills kidney disease food seen as a better quality due to the first ingredient? My cat currently eats Purina AdvantEdge but after reading their ingredient list Im hesitatant to use it. Any helpful advice on which dry food is better?
