Hi! I need some advice. My mom is considering getting a port. Today, she had chemo, but her nurses informed us that her veins were too small now, and it was difficult to put her IV in. I know it will be easier on her since she won't be poked anymore, and her cancer is at stage 4, so she'll be needing chemo for more than a year. But the only thing is, what are some risks? Will it need constant care like a PICC line? She's diabetic as well, and I'm just worried it won't heal or that she will develop infections.
