I want a good college life with decent fests, sports facilities, and active clubs. I’m likely getting branches like Mechanical or Chemical in top Nits

If I join one of these branches and grind coding on my own, will I realistically be able to crack software internships and placements? Also, roughly what percentage of software companies do not allow Mechanical/Chemical students to sit for software roles during placements?

Would really appreciate honest answers from seniors.
