Credit Card Advice
All right, I would love if someone could break this down for me. I understand the credit card world for the most part but of course I do not understand everything right now.
I have a Chase freedom unlimited card, my Amazon Prime card that I only use for Amazon purchases and a Discover card that I got when I was 18 to start my credit journey. I do not use the Discover card at all, but I never closed it. My go to has always been my Chase freedom unlimited. My credit score currently is roughly 780, I have no credit card debt and I have about seven years of credit history.
Right now I’m confused on what credit card I should get next. I understand that I need to know what ecosystem I want to enter and what goes well with my lifestyle, but I’m honestly not sure what that is. The one I’ve had in mind to get next is the Chase Sapphire preferred but I would also like to kind of get into the AMEX ecosystem. I know there’s other amazing cards such as the Capital One venture X and the AMEX gold but I’m not sure if I’m ready to pay those yearly fees given my current financial situation or if it’s worth it for me at the moment I’m not sure if my next credit card should be a travel card or a cashback card..
Let me give some context about my lifestyle. Due to my job right now, I can’t travel whenever i want but I get a couple weeks of vacation picks a year and every year I try to at least go on one trip with my girlfriend that requires a flight, preferably out of the country. That being said, I’ve had my Chase freedom unlimited for a few years now and I’ve always loved the points system and being able to put that towards my flight or my stay whatever the case is but for my next card, I’m not sure if I can justify getting the Chase Sapphire preferred or any other travel card since I don’t always go on vacations.
A little more context from my day-to-day life…. I drive to my job five days a week back-and-forth, which requires a few times a month where I have to fill up gas so if there’s any particular thing I have to spend money on it is gas, I do have a couple of streaming subscriptions, fortunately my mom right now is the one who typically spends money on groceries so I don’t always spend money on groceries, I do have a girlfriend so of course we go out to eat sometimes but it’s not always.
My question to you based on your knowledge is what card should I get next and what card should I get after that? My sights are currently set on the Chase Sapphire preferred and AMEX blue card preferred.
