Big flare up of akathisia after 2-3 week window
After a long window - 2-3 weeks - and being benzo free for 11 Months I am experiencing a severe wave.
Btw, I was prescribed with a benzo and Mirtazapine because of Post-Covid (Long-covid) which worked for a while but after tapering both meds at the same time according to the doctors advice everything went downhill and became even worse.
I do have other diagnosis besides benzo withdrawal like ME/CFS, MCAS that already existed before the benzo withdrawal but akathisia has only emerged since taking/tapering the benzo.
I was quite good in the last few weeks. I was doing light exercise. I was taking a few supplements for my Small-Fiber-Neuropathy that I have developed since stopping the benzo. Yeah, the supplements helped with the nerve pain but I think they also induced the akathisia again due to excess energy and overexhaustion from exercise.
I was so desperate to get rid of the nerve tingling that I had to take some B vitamins (B1, B2, B12, B9) but yeah, in my case they came with a cost. Together with the exercise intolerance. I also took vitamin D with K and all supplements were without MCT oil. MCT oil also triggers akathisia for me. Of course I also took magnesium which led probably also led to this wave.
The biggest mistake was probably to also take L-glutamine. L-carnitin was not really an issue I think. I also took 0,5 mg of Lithium orotate to see if it would help a bit with my mood - I was starting to get pretty emotional but I think this was a warning sign that I am gonna have a crash of some kind with exhaustion or restlessness/akathisia…unfortunately it turned out to be akathisia - but I think that was the last drop in the cup that induced the severe nausea. My fault…just venting and warning.
Btw I also drink Lemon Balm tea every evening and Rosemary thyme tea every evening. I have been doing this for the past 8 months so this is something that has been the same and has never changed since starting these two teas 8 months ago.
Now I have balance issues and nausea which increases in severity when big barometric pressure changes happen suddenly, especially within 24 hours. They trigger also a migraine. Migraine diagnosis present before benzodiazepine usage/tapering since childhood. I also get cold hands and feet even in the summer when the barometric pressure changes. This has been present since Covid together with my cold intolerance.
High histamine or histamine liberating foods are also a trigger unfortunately - aggravated by benzo taparing and covid but present also before benzoes and covid that always led to a migraine with aura since childhood.
Restless legs and racing thoughts, with inner panic and the urge to not live anymore are also present.
I am trying to survive this period. It is very difficult and awful. Mornings are the worst.
I don’t know how I am gonna survive this again.
I have had several waves in the last 11 months and I survived all of them but every time I experience them I think I am not gonna make it.
The fact that I have windows and waves is even more of a torture cause the next wave is always more terrifying than the previous one.
I hope to make it out of this wave!
Yeah, I regret taking these meds but I trusted my doctor as I was clueless about what the benzo and Mirtazapine could do to me and I never thought that I would have such severe reactions. I was also desperate to solve my symptoms related to Covid…
Thanks for letting me vent, cheering for all of you guys! May healing happen!
