Having Beef with Yahweh

So I’m still technically on my deconstruction journey, even though it’s been a good five years. But I’m wondering, does anybody else have unpleasant feelings towards the God in the Bible? I’m going to be honest I feel like the God in the Bible is an envious, vindictive, cruel God. He sent thousands of people to the grave. And many of those people were literally just a part of a certain tribe/community. I never felt this way about Jesus though which is why he’s still an integral part of my spirituality. From a young age, I always felt that there wasn’t a true connection between God and Jesus (Yeshua of Nazareth). I was hoping to start a discussion, possibly to understand why God of the Bible was written this way. And does anybody else feel the level of contempt that I do? For a reason for this contempt is because here in America politicians are essentially doing terrible things to their citizens in the name of God from the Bible. And I think that is absolutely bollocks. It’s hard to want to have anything to do with Christianity when people still use it for harm to this day, but I’d love to hear you guy’s thoughts.
