Any idea what this skin issue on my hand could be?
I had to Google to find the name of this part of my hand, I think it's called the Thenar?
Anyway, I've developed this issue within the last 7-8 years or so, and during the cooler season, my hand is silky and smooth like normal. But when the weather warms up, my skin starts to thicken up like a callus until it gets to the point I need to take a pumice stone and scrape it down. It gets to a point from time to time that I pick at it enough that it starts to get sore and sometimes bleed a bit as the skin dries and cracks. After I scrape it down smooth again, it'll eventually thicken up again and I repeat the pumice stone. As cooler weather returns, it tends to fade.
I've long assumed this is connected to my frequent computer and mouse usage causing it from friction, but as I've tried to treat the issue and mitigate it with lotions, moisturizers, and mouse pads...I've realized that I'm really not applying a lot of pressure or friction in that area to the point I'd think it would cause it. I generally rest most of my hand on the pinky side of the palm, and my thumb side where all this is happening tends to just lightly rest on the mouse pad. In the other picture I attached, you can see as well that the way I rest my hand on the mouse pad, the portion of my hand where the callus is forming doesn't even really touch the mouse pad or anything at all that would be causing a friction callus.
Either way, nothing I've done seems to make the issue go away other than cooler weather. Has anybody seen this issue before or have ideas on things to try and help make this go away permanently?.
