AIO I need help so bad
So I (F, 25+) was just outside smoking I have a vape and I have Za. I've been outside for a minute was kind of plotting a story and being cringe. Guy rolls up in a truck, and he walks up I am standing leaning against the table outside facing out my back is to the wall. He says hello, asks me some questions. I don't give my name or too much but I do tell him a few details that are believable. I comment about the weather, he agrees he grabbed some wood from the side.
See, we're basically in a house that's being rented out piece by piece as apartments, so our landlord and her family sometimes will come through to grab something up theirs.
Basically that's it, he just grabbed the long boards of wood loaded his truck up with a few and dipped. The whole time I was texting my mother/roommate and calling her a little panicked about the unknown guy being here, and it was honestly a cry for help. Because we've had incidences before. Anyway she finally comes out after we leave because her phone was on silent she was busy etc, and she comes out and she gets crusty with me.
She talks about how I need to be more aggressive with people who walk up about how I live here and how I'm more you know have more of a right to be here than them and to start questioning people and then she goes on to talk about how she would have aggressively snapped a picture of the man and his truck.
She went on to talk about just question them but I'm a newbie in this town and I'm about to start work here I didn't want my first impression to be rude and she's like fuck first impressions and then she degraded the town we're in and the people in it and was just generally negative and really mean.
It's not like I intend to make a life here but I also can make the best of a bad situation like yeah okay maybe I did think about snapping a picture, but I was more worried about documenting for time stamps and description and all that.
If this violates anything rule-wise, I apologize preemptively. I mean no harm, I just need...advice. Answers.
