Pre-Op today + uterine biopsy

47, heavy periods. Adenomyosis probably. Thought it was a large fibroid. Hospitalized with anemia once and don’t want to deal with that again. No pain, periods 25 day cycle bleed for about 7.

I was blissfully trying to disassociate from my upcoming surgery but today brought me back to reality. I’m having a vnotes hysterectomy on 5/28. I thought I was going to have this one surgeon but turns out I’m scheduled with someone else. That kinda threw a wrench in my mind lol. Ultimately I met them both and it was decided they would both do the surgery so yay for that I guess. I also had a uterine biopsy and I heard it could be anywhere from worst pain of your life to meh. I took 1000mg of Tylenol about 2 hours before hand. I was very scared and nervous. The doctor was kind and patient with my and explained every step. She said ok now you will feel cramping and I waited and asked when? She said oh I’ve been doing it so all in all it wasn’t so bad. Mild period like cramps that were uncomfortable but not terrible. I did have some bleeding after.

Fast TJO-FJO-EOD Internal

I was direct hired into a GS9 in my current organization. This is a promotion but a change in job series. They put in the paperwork 3/30 and then it sat for over a month. I got my TJO 5/12 and the FJO 5/13 EOD 5/17!

It’s my last period.

Feels surreal. Just started my last period today. I’m getting a hysterectomy in 5/28. I’m typically prone to all sorts of health anxiety and overthinking. But not for this. I feel strangely calm. I do hope it continues up until and after surgery lol. Apparently I have a huge fibroid that might also be adenymyosis. I have really heavy periods that put me in the hospital once with severe anemia and for 2 blood and 1 iron infusions. Since then my levels have been up and down. Recently my Hemoglobin was tested at 11.8 as I’ve been taken double iron per hematologist direction. It brought my levels from a 9.5 to the 11.8 in about 2 weeks. I almost thought maybe I can just deal with it and not have surgery, but I also have overactive bladder and urine retention all likely caused by my large and mishapen uterus. So I think it’s best to go ahead with surgery. I’m 47 , don’t think I’m in peri and I will be keeping my ovaries. I’m set to have the vnotes surgery so it will all be through my poor vagina 😅I’ve been scouring this sub for weeks and I have learned a lot. Thank you ladies for sharing your experiences.

I’m scheduled for surgery at the end of the month. I’m starting to bargain with myself …”it’s not so bad, you can deal with the heavy periods, anemia and planning events around your period for however many years it takes to get to menopause” . Help me get back on the right frame of mind lol What’s been the best thing for you so far that isn’t obvious ?
