Plus size, increasing stamina and tense ankles

So far I’ve finished my 5th run. Right now I’m using Nike Run Club and I have Brooks Glycerins and Hoka Clifton 10s coming soon. As of right now I’m around a 20 minute pace and just broke past 1.27 miles. I’m still doing intervals because my ankles get really tense and uncomfortable during runs.

I’m mostly curious if other newer/heavier (I’m just shy of 280) runners experienced something similar when starting out and if it improved over time as your endurance, mobility, and overall fitness got better. I’m not looking for medical advice, just personal experiences/tips from people who started in a similar place.

For me this isn’t about pace or mileage right now it’s honestly just about building the stamina to keep going longer with fewer walking breaks over time.

Also how has running changed your life? I like how it makes me feel but I’m curious as to what it’ll do with my weight loss journey.
