Giving thanks

A lot of you know I recently started my cleaning business, and I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who’s supported me, encouraged me, or even just took a chance on me.

Life got real fast. My work hours were cut, I have two kids depending on me, and instead of making excuses, I decided to bet on myself and build something of my own. Some people might think it’s crazy, but I took the idea and ran with it.

Over the last couple weeks, I’ve been walking into local businesses in a clean uniform, bringing donuts, introducing myself, and simply trying to connect with people face to face. Nowadays people see so much AI and advertising online that I felt it was important for people to actually see me behind the business.

I’ve met a lot of great people along the way, and even the tough experiences taught me something. So whether you supported me and my businessSupreme pro clean, gave advice, shared a post, or simply showed kindness, thank you Jersey City.

I’m grateful for all of it. 🖤✨

Please help need a vacum

I'm thinking of adding a vacuum to my cleaning supplies, but I can't decide which one to get. I was looking at the Oreck commercial cleaning vacuum or a 2-in-1, like a mop and vacuum. I'm trying to do research, not just go by what you suggest. What I do know is Oreck is lightweight, has good bags that are changeable, but it doesn't come with all the bells and whistles like the others. However, I like its simplicity. The vacuum I pick will be the first one I've owned. I just want it to last a long time, or long enough.

Was people always this mean was it always this hard 🤔

So recently I’ve really been pushing my cleaning business hard. I’m trying to get used to hearing “no” and learning what it really takes to build something from the ground up. But sheesh… I didn’t realize how rude and disrespectful some people can really be.

I’ve been trying to do things differently. Being kind, open-minded, professional. Pulling up to local businesses in a clean uniform with donuts and a smile, just introducing myself and my business. Takes less than 5 minutes. In and out.

I know everybody has lives to live and work to do, but yesterday honestly messed me up a little.

I walked into a lawyer’s office and the owner told me:

“No one wants a Black cleaner. You look like you steal.”

I simply said, “Thank you for your time, God bless,” and walked away. No reaction. No argument. Nothing.

But those words definitely stayed in my head.

I’m doing this because I have two kids to take care of. My hours got cut at work, and finding another job hasn’t been easy. So instead of sitting around feeling sorry for myself, I decided to push my cleaning business harder and do whatever I can to keep my family afloat.

Yesterday hurt, I’m not gonna lie. But I’m not giving up.

If anything, I’m going to use it as fuel to keep pushing forward. I got a feeling this journey is gonna come with more moments like that, but I also believe better days, better clients, and better opportunities are ahead too 💪

I've started a 24-hour cleaning service, and I wanted to give my clients fridge magnets. The reason being, as a kid, I always had random magnets on my fridge. It's something they can keep and not lose, and they will always see it. But I'm hesitating because I'm not sure, and the cost is pricey, but to me, it's worth it. So, to wrap this up, what gift ideas do you guys have?

Had a last-minute cleaning call last night in Jersey City… one of those situations where the place just got out of hand and it was stressing them out heavy.

Nothing crazy, just real life piling up.

Spent a few hours resetting everything… kitchen, bathroom, floors… and by the end you could literally feel the difference walking in. Not even just visually, the whole energy changed.

Made me realize this job isn’t really about “cleaning” half the time… it’s about helping people get back in control of their space when life gets hectic.

I’m trying to grow my small cleaning business locally, so I’m curious:

Do you wait until things get overwhelming to call a cleaner… or do you prefer regular upkeep?

No pressure at all, just want to hear how people approach it.

If anyone in the Jersey City / nearby area ever needs help with a reset or deep clean, feel free to reach out. Even if it’s last minute, I try to make it work.

Hey, I’m based around the Jersey City / Newark area and have been building a small cleaning business lately.

Something I’ve been noticing is that when people actually need a cleaner, it’s usually last minute… like:

move-out coming up fast

inspection the next day

post-construction mess

or just life getting hectic and the place needs a reset

But when it’s urgent, it seems like a lot of people either can’t find anyone or don’t get a response.

I’ve started leaning into faster response / last-minute availability because of that, but I’m curious if this is actually a common issue here or just what I’ve been seeing.

For people in Newark: Have you ever needed a cleaner last minute and struggled to find one?

Or do you usually plan it out ahead?

Also curious what actually matters most when choosing someone price, speed, reliability, reviews, etc.
