The rise and fall of my tinnitus
Hello all, basically i wanted to share this story with all since the past couple of years, but i didn't get the right motivation, i was watching this YouTube video of " most distributing mysteries solved by reddit users" and realised how reddit post can be so powerful
So it all started in the year of 2021, i was suffering from typhoid and got admitted in the hospital, as a standard procedure for that time i had to undergo COVID test and I've been declared as positive without any symptoms, i was under the medication for typhoid and COVID simultaneously, after a week under medication i felt there was some disturbance in my ear, i brushed it off thinking it was some side effects of a medicine and was undergoing recovery, after a couple of weeks of recovery i was out of COVID and typhoid and i was back to my regular job, even after couple of weeks the disturbance in my ear was not going away, so i googled my symptoms and i fugured out it was tinnitus and i may have to live my life with it, my tinnitus felt like someone was constantly blowing into my ear and i was only able to feel it when i was in a complete silent atmosphere, still it would bother me, so i went to the nearby ENT doctor and told him about my symptoms, he asked me to undergo some tests which includes my hearing and to check if there is any pressure buildup in my ear, do after going through the tests i have submitted the reports to the doctor and he said that I'm suffering from tinnitus and he gave me some medicines, i don't remember their names but there was one particular medicine called "tinnex" along with 6 to 7 others, so i have undergone these medications for a month and after a couple of weeks my tinnitus slowly started fading away, after a month i have visited the doctor and told him that my tinnitus is almost gone and I thanked him for helping me out, the doctor said that i have to continue the medications life long to be out of tinnitus or they tinnitus may come back, since i was young and stupid i thought the doctor may be doing this for the commission from the pharmacy and I'm completely fine, fast forward to a month, the tinnitus was back, and i realised that the doctor was not kidding but i also thought i can't be on the medications life long and i have made peace with tinnitus since it was only bothering me when i was in a completely silent atmosphere, it was like blinking and breathing, you're only aware when you think about it, otherwise it's normal, so i have continued with my daily life
Fastfood to 2023, i realised that the vision in one of my eyes is degrading, thinking that it is an eyesight issue i have visited the nearby opthomologist, he checked my eyes with a machine and told me that my eye sight is perfect and the issue is somewhat serious, he suggested me to visit an advanced hospital with better equipment and figure out what's causing my vision issue
After a couple of tests at the facility the doctor suggested I undergo an MRI, post MRI i have realised that i was suffering from pituitary macro adenoma, basically a tumor on my pituitary gland which was big enough that it was putting pressure on my optical nerves
Following that i have visited a neuro surgeon and underwent surgery for the same, the surgery was a success and the doctor was able to remove most of my tumor, while i was coming out of the anesthesia in the recovery room, the first thing i noticed was that peace of the silence and the tinnitus was finally gone and i was able to enjoy the silence
A couple of weeks post surgery my eyesight was recovered, but not completely, the doctor said optical nerve damage cannot always be recovered completely, still i am having issues with my peripheral vision with one eye closed, but it's not a big deal because if i do things with both of my eyes i barely notice any difference
The whole purpose of this story is to spread awareness and it may be helpful to the people who may be suffering from tinnitus
Till this day the tinnitus hasn't come back and i am happily sleeping by enjoying silence, sorry for bad english, since it's not my first language, cheers, feel free to ask any questions.
