Hi everyone,
I’m planning to install a Reolink Duo Dome PoE Camera on my wooden house and I have a question about the cable and waterproof connector design.
The camera has the Ethernet cable coming out with a thicker waterproof section (RJ45 + rubber sealing sleeve/strain relief).
My installation plan is:
Cameras mounted directly on a wooden exterior wall
CAT6 cable coming from inside the house through a small drilled hole
I want the camera mounted directly over that hole for a clean and minimal look
My questions:
Can I mount the camera flush to the wall while the cable is right behind the camera? It doesn’t look like there would be enough space
Is it normal and safe to leave the waterproof connector outside behind the camera?
Can that waterproof housing be removed or shortened, or is it essential for weather protection/IP rating?
What is the correct professional way to mount this on a wooden exterior wall while keeping it fully waterproof and clean-looking?
Thank you
