Hear me out

I think I'm starting to pick up a common theme that gets posted here. I feel like the term "liminal" is morphing into a combination of liminal spaces, nostalgia, dreamcore, and surrealism. My favorite Twitch streamer, Vinesauce, came up with a phrase that may accurately decribe this: a quiet sadness. The best images that get posted here invoke a calm, quiet sense of sadness in us, because we can't be there, or we're not there right now. And in spite of this, it's comforting. That's why so many posts on here are from old shopping malls, the open plains, Grandma's house, old video games and computer software like Super Mario 64, Minecraft, Bryce 3D, etc., churches, empty streets, just to name a few. Places that don't feel quite right with nobody there, but we see it in our dreams, we know we've been there, but can't quite put our finger on it, or we actually have been there years ago. I have a few memories in my mind of places like those: a JCPenney outlet with '80s style decor and ceiling lights that blur together when you look down to the concourse, a mall with high roofs, bright colors, and patterns, my grandma's old house, just to name a few.
