So from the age of 17 to 21 I was with the same girl we met in high school and lived together the entire time I thought the relationship was going fine. We had great communication or so I thought. And towards the end of the relationship, I noticed she was acting weird now for some context. I was working two jobs to make sure everything was paid for while she took care of the house I noticed in the later months that she was going to her cousin’s house a lot and the downtown area of Houston which happened to be next to a strip club and a laundromat me being naïve and young I never would’ve thought that she was actually working there so fast-forward a couple months she got pregnant and of course I assume it’s my child because we’ve been together for a long time and I didn’t see anything wrong at the time, however, I come home from work one night because they cut us early and there wasn’t anything to do and I find her in bed with some random guy and that’s when everything unfolded, I found out they’re not only had she been cheating on me for upwards of six months, but she was also working at the strip club and the guy she was cheating on me with was her boss and the child that had been taken care of inside of her stomach for the last four months wasn’t even mine, I haven’t told anybody the story there’s a lot more to it, but if anyone’s interested in the detail details, I can give an update in the comments it was a shitty situation but now I’m happy and I’ve been married for three years and I love my wife to death and I’m kind of glad that the situation happened because I washed my hands of a person who didn’t have my interest in mind

AITA for refusing to cover for one of my soldiers after he lied about why he missed formation

So im active duty Army and im an NCO in a line company and honestly ive always tried to be the type of leader that treats dudes like adults as long as they handle their business, one of my younger guys has been having issues for months late to work missing appointments uniform looking like trash the whole deal

last friday we had first formation at 0630 and this dude just never showed up no text no call nothing our PSG was already pissed because battalion had been on us all week

around 0830 he finally texts me saying his mom was in the hospital and thats why he disappeared

obviously im not gonna grill somebody if its a family emergency so i covered for him and told leadership he had a legit issue, later that night one of the other guys in the platoon sends me an instagram story of him drunk at a club in another city from the same morning, i was honestly more mad that he made me look stupid in front of leadership than the actual lying part. monday comes around and my PSG asks me again if everything with the soldier is okay and i basically tell him the truth that i found out he lied and i couldnt keep covering for him, well now the soldier is pissed at me saying i betrayed him and that i shouldve handled it “inside the team” instead of letting leadership get involved, some of the younger guys think im an asshole because apparently everyone covers for eachother sometimes but i kinda feel like once you lie to me and make me lie for you too thats where i draw the line
