Support the Kickstart of a Brand New Baby-Turtle Saving Charity, HatchSafe

HatchSafe.org

What's The Problem?

On the West-Coast of Florida during nesting season, the hatching baby turtles' nature tells them to go toward the brightest horizon, which should be the ocean. However, lights from condo, apartment, and business buildings often end up shining brighter, leading baby turtles the wrong direction, which is a fatal choice.

1 out of 1000 baby sea turtles live to maturity.

How Can We Fix This?

By implementing specialized turtle-friendly lightbulbs in longer wavelengths that they cannot detect, such as amber, red, or orange light, as well as with low brightness and directionally downward placement, lights will no longer attract newly hatched baby turtles. All profits from the sale of turtle merchandise will be utilized as subsidies granted to buildings on the Florida West Coast, paying up to 75% of costs for turtle-friendly lighting & encouraging buildings to become turtle-safe with a certification plaque from HatchSafe.

How Can You Help?

All money for subsidies & turtle-friendly lighting must be raised from sales of merchandise. You can help the cause most by buying merchandise, or simply donating.
