How to handle care after procedure?

My father is scheduled for an angiogram in a few hours. We are low contact for a variety of reasons, which is making this situation all the more stressful.

Dad initially scheduled his angiogram for May 1st. He texted me a day before wanting a ride to his appointment. My family and I live 3 hours away and run a business, and this is a hard time of year to get away. Long story short, I agreed to take him if he rescheduled. I also tried to call him to get more information so I could plan accordingly, but he wouldn't answer his phone. Just "procedure at this time, need a ride" texts. I drove down yesterday so I could pick him up on time.

After looking more into things, I am now worried about post care. He's 76 and not in great health and I'm worried about leaving him alone. But, as he wouldn't give me any information, I am not prepared to stay, and need to be back home no later than Tuesday afternoon for work. I can't take him home with me as we don't have a spare room. And honestly, being around him just wrecks my mental health because he is unkind.

Has anyone gone through something similar before? What kind of care did your parent require afterwards and how did you handle it?
