Some questions to Analog Professionals regarding career

I seek some answers regarding a career in this domain. The mental gymnastics required on the career front literally dwarfs the efforts I made to build the technical knowledge in this domain.

Before I ask my questions, a little bit about myself. I am yet to start my career here. I come from some decent colleges in my country - India (Bachelors from NIT Trichy and a botched Masters from NIT Warangal which I dropped out due to circumstances).

This documentation shows what I have in my hand and this one gives a nice summary of it.
And my major question is how to put what I have in my hand to good use - especially towards a career?

Currently I am networking with professionals to understand about the state of industry and to seek opportunities. I also plan to redo my masters in the upcoming academic session if I don't get any chance.

BUT, before I do go back, I need ideas. Like what to look out for, and how to direct myself with a career in mind.
I really don't want to go blindly with the little knowledge I have about the industry.

And so, I would like to ask a few questions to the professionals in this domain:

  1. Can you tell me briefly about your career trajectory?

Like how you started, and how you traversed through to reach your current position. Also, it would be helpful if you can name your designations too as it gives me an idea of what roles are called by what names. This gives me targets.
And I need to know what is realistically possible to aim for to form a road map.

  1. What trend is most impacting the industry in the analog domain?

For example, due to oil shortage most hotels here are currently operating with a reduced menu. This is an example for trend that most impacts the hotel industry. Likewise, can you tell me regarding the trend(/s) in this industry?

  1. What surprises you most about the industry? What insights about the industry can you offer to me, that can help me shape my ideas regarding career?

  2. What do you know now that you wish you knew when you were in my position? What advice would you give me regarding my steps to take if you were in my shoes?

Like what can I do with what I have in my hand? And what more to do with what I have in my hand as basement?

  1. What resources would you recommend I look into next?

Of course, this is about building a career in this domain. Like any annual conferences/industry websites/LinkedIn Groups pertaining to your work that you find particularly helpful to your career?

  1. What kind of projects does a fresher gets to work in the industry?

I am really puzzled about this one. Like where and how did you fit in when you started your career?

---

Of course, some of you are in a different region and your answers to these questions may not be useful to me in my region.

However, I would still like to hear your wisdom, and let me worry about the feasibility of such answers in my locale on my own.

I really need to know this to even start to think about what can I do and how to go about doing it from where I am standing right now.

Thanks in advance!

Signing Outlook account into other clients (ex: Thunderbird)

1) Enable IMAP usage in your account

Before you try to login your outlook account in other email clients, you need to enable usage of IMAP by devices and apps in your email settings.

To that end, login to your email in a web browser, then, go to

settings -> Mail -> Forwarding and IMAP

Inside you will find an option to sign in. Just sign in again. (I know this sounds stupid, but doing this in the settings will present more options, especially the option to enable usage of IMAP by other devices and apps)

Scroll all the way down to find POP and IMAP section and then enable Let Devices and apps use IMAP.

See this image for reference.

Really important that you finish this first.

2) Login into other clients

  • On Android

I just used the auto configuration and it found the correct settings and logged in with ease.

---

  • On Desktop

Try using the auto configuration. I don't know why, but I used the manual configuration while adding the account.

As for the settings, please copy information from this Microsoft support page.

Just to ease up your login effort, this is what you need to set up: reference image for Incoming Server settings and Outgoing Server settings.

Once you fill up your information, make sure to hit the TEST button at the bottom left of the window to check your configuration and to enable the continue button.

Only when you run the TEST, will you be able to continue.

And then just authenticate your account and finish adding it.

---

PS. I have set my authenticator app in android. In case if the above instructions doesn't work, you may need to download the Authenticator app from playstore and then setup your account in that and try again.
