My ultimate in car camping setup

This setup is amazing for early / late season camping & dispersed setups.

The mattress is a perfect fit with the front seats all the way forward, really great that you can inflate one half and keep the vehicle drivable. Plus the included base extenders fill in the rear seat gap perfectly to support the full length of the mattress.

I slept the first night with just the passenger side half inflated and fully inflated second night. If the CX30 was 2 inches longer it would be perfect, I am 5'11" so cannot stretch out straight without being at a slight angle. With a windshield shade and some cheap window shades you can keep the windows opened for airflow with privacy.

The cargo area of the CX30 is 2" lower than the folded rear seats so to correct that I used 1" rigid foam board insulation stacked and traced my rear cargo area mat.

The Thule Pulse 2 M roof box and Mazda crossbars work well in tandem with this setup for gear storage. Mileage is only impacted by 1 or 2 mpg as I averaged 25.8 mpg over 700 miles with 300 of those being on 80 mph highway with Nitto Nomad Grappler tires.
