CKD and IBD
My baby boy(16) was diagnosed with CKD stage 1 when he was 10 years old. I switched him to KD food and began daily medication. His CKD has remained stable and has actually slightly improved since his initial diagnosis. About a month ago I took him for his blood work and everything looked great except slightly elevated pancreatic levels. Three days later, he began throwing up after eating. He could not keep anything down. He had an ultrasound and it confirmed IBD. We did additional blood work and his B12 levels looked fine. Our vet suggested we switch to the Royal Canine dual function IBD and Renal care food. The problem is that he really only likes to eat wet food and the new food only come in dry food. I can not get him to eat the new food. I put water in it and that didn’t help. He cries for food (he still has a healthy appetite) but he does not touch his new food. He has seemed pretty low energy the last couple of days and I figure it’s because he is hungry. I’m at a loss. Does anyone have any advice on how to get him to eat?
