Can anyone help me identify this piece of pottery
Hi everyone,
I am trying to identify the studio potter behind this beautiful wheel-thrown piece.
Here are the technical details of the vessel:
- The Mark: A distinct, stamped lowercase serif "mm" on the unglazed foot ring.
- Clay Body & Glaze: It appears to be a fine white porcelain or highly refined stoneware clay body covered in a translucent green celadon glaze.
- Decoration: It features a striking geometric band of inlaid white clay/slip (Mishima style) with overlapping squares, rectangles, and diamond motifs around the upper belly.
- Form: It is a small, delicate vessel with a flared rim and a narrow, pulled stem/foot (similar to a stem cup, chawan, or goblet style).
While the "mm" mark looks similar to McCarty Pottery out of context, the white clay body, geometric inlay style, and contemporary aesthetic indicate it is from a different modern studio artist.
Does anyone recognize this specific stamp typography or style of geometric inlay work? Any leads on the regional artist or studio would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
