Ok y’all I’m feeling a bit better in my third week and want to know from you all when did people get back to previous athletic activities like:

XC skiing
Hiking
Running
Bicycling
Boot camp type fitness classes
Standing around for long periods for whatever reason (outdoor concert, say)
Vigorous rock n roll dancing
Ultimate frisbee
Basketball
Pickleball

I could eventually do all these things after my RTKR but I can’t remember when since I had it done 8 years ago.

Now I’m 18 days out from LTKR …..

Pain: Be in touch w your Doctors they can maybe help

My second surgery has been much worse for the first two weeks anyway. Good news for me is right at 15 days, after a medication switch up per discussion w my PA, I feel 100% better. Could be the switch, could be just the timing. Don’t be afraid to ask your PT or Docs about your suffering. They switched from Oxycodone and Tylenol to Norco, then added a prescription NSAID and a muscle relaxer.

One week out should I Still feel so much pain? How much walking?

I am getting contradictory guidance - keep moving, keep it elevated, get your steps in, don’t overdo it, stay ahead of the pain, only take as much opioids as you have to, get pain relief so you can do pt, start tapering off opioids asap……
So, I’m polling y’all on where I should be (give or take/no one is the same/ etc) one week out?
Still using walker? I can walk without it maybe time for a cane?
Walking distance? Last three days I’ve done like a half mile or so
Pain??? Still in a lot!! Hate to admit it, but just laying or sitting around, I notice I’m wincing, my other leg is kind of writhing, and sometimes little groans escape.
It is hard to sleep. Sitting with it up hurts more than walking on it sometimes. I just called in a refill for oxycodone

Would love to hear about others’ walking distances at different weeks out, experiences w pain and other fun tips and sharing.
