New Law Passed in Oklahoma
Hey all. I’m not quite sure how or where to start with this. I live in the state of Oklahoma and I have been in the process of getting top surgery for 3 years now. Originally my insurance had an exemption, so I found new insurance and waited the appropriate time before trying again. I have been going through OU health and have done many consultations (the surgeon is not the kindest) and had to go through many arbitrary waiting periods that they couldn’t quite say why. This is the closest I have gotten, as I was expecting a call today about finally setting a date. Instead my call was about SB 904. Effective May 2026, no hospital that uses public funds can perform gender affirming surgery other the threat of arrest. I am absolutely heartbroken and do not know where to go from here. I have put my entire life on hold for this and now I am back at square one. I’m posting this for both awareness and also advice. I do not know what next steps to take or what to do. I just have this debilitating feelings of needing to cry. This is dystopian. I hate this. I can’t stop crying.
