Layout ideas for this kitchen area

We recently bought a house and are trying to finalize the kitchen layout, but we’re struggling to create a practical design. We made a few 3D concepts with online software and narrowed it down to two ideas, but neither feels fully right.

In the first layout, the microwave is above the oven, and the cooktop is next to it, while the sink is on the other side/face of the wall with the dishwasher beside it. This gives us decent prep space between the sink and cooktop, but when the dishwasher is open, it blocks the drawer under the cooktop where we planned to store dishes.

In the second layout, there’s more space overall, but the oven is low to the floor, and we don’t know where to place the microwave. Also, the concrete column next to the oven feels too exposed.

We would also like to find a visual way to separate the entry from the kitchen so that, when entering the house, the kitchen is not immediately visible.

The room itself has a few challenges:

  • There’s a structural concrete column splitting the kitchen space.
  • The ventilation pipe is currently to the left of the column. We could move it, but it would need to pass through the room behind the kitchen.

We’re looking for ideas on how to make the layout more practical and ideally hide/blend the column better. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
