I work in fast food as a casual worker, I’ve been sick the last couple days so I havnt been able to go to my shifts. Yesterday I accidentally no showed cause my cold and flu tablets knocked me out and I slept through my alarm I set to call in. I tried to call last night to let them know I wouldn’t be able to come in today and no one answered, I put my shift in the chat and said I was sick. This morning I tried calling and it just didn’t go through, didn’t say the line was busy just nothing. I messaged the manager on shift and said as much, but I got put down as a no show anyway because it was 15 minutes after the 2 hours before my shift to be able to call in.
Now my boss is messaging me saying they have no record of me calling, which makes sense if it didn’t go through, and is asking for me to send photos of my phone records.
Is he even allowed to do that, and am I required to comply?
Also the problem with that is I called off my partners phone because mine didn’t charge overnight and was dead. I am absolutely not going to be photographing my partners phone records to send to my boss as proof of my calling the store, they have no reason to think I’m lying as nothing like this has ever happened, and there have been multiple instances of phone calls not going through, which has been communicated by various staff in our staff chat.
I’m not really sure what I should do here, and I havnt opened or replied to my boss’s message yet because it’s out of my working hours and I try not to bring work into my off work time unless I’m picking up a shift or trying to give one away/swap.
